Hello friends! The past year has been pretty crazy for everyone, so I wanted to pop in and give an update on what has been going on in my life. For the last 10? 11? months we have been dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. This took a huge toll on.. pretty much everything. From companies going out of business to millennials taking to Tiktok to try and cope with the new way of life, which consists of hunkering down indoors, social distancing, mask wearing, and online school. I promise, it is worse than it sounds. I personally decided to stay at home with my family over these months for health and financial reasons. I love those guys, but I didn’t realize how different it would be living at home under these new conditions after the last two years of freedom. My siblings and I have been trying our best with the new norm that is “zoom university”, while my moms’ (both educators) have been fighting the system in attempt to keep teachers safe during this time. Overall, everything has been pretty chaotic and definitely provided us with new perspectives and struggles, but the hope is everyone who has been suffering comes out of this stronger! Maybe one day, when all of this isn’t so fresh, I will come back and talk more about experiences, good or bad, over the course of the Pandemic.
From the way I phrased that last sentence, you may think the pandemic is coming to an end. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Positive and negative remnants of 2020 are slowly seeping into this year. Scientists HAVE worked on several vaccines that are now starting to be distributed to essential workers, but we still have a long way to go till we get back to “normal”. Biden and Kamala just took office a few days ago (thank. GOODNESS), so that has given most of the nation a chance to breathe for a moment.
As the second semester of my junior year starts a goal I have is to update this blog more. I am starting to take more classes that focus on my major as well as apply for internships, and I want to utilize this site! This weekend I get to move back to campus even though class will still be online. In the coming weeks I will be struggling through an 18 credit semester and hopefully a part time job along with (virtual) extracurriculars. I’m pretty nervous about taking all this on and staying in a decent/good place mentally, but we shall see how it goes! I will for sure be more active here, especially for some of my major courses this semester (hi to any of my professors who see this!)
Thanks for reading this little, very informal, update! Get excited for the upcoming work and personal projects I will post here!
